Postnatal depression

A recent survey has revealed that nearly 20% mothers had been diagnosed with depression.  This makes postnatal depression more common than previously thought, and many factors contribute to it.  Social support, isolation, preparation for birth and parenting, a satisfying birth experience, a healthy baby, continuity of care – all of these factors can impact the chance of a woman experiencing postnatal depression.
