Melissa Maimann, Independent Midwife Sydney, Blue Mountains, Illawarra, Central Coast, Southern Highlands

I am a privately-practicing midwife and I specialise in providing comprehensive, personalised pregnancy, birth and postnatal care for women across the Sydney Regions, including Wollongong, the Central Coast, the Southern Highlands and the Blue Mountains.

My philosophy encompasses pregnancy, labour and birth as a normal physiologic process, which women are designed to do, particularly when they are cared for sensitively, guided and supported by a trusted midwife, not disturbed or interrupted.

Clearly, pregnancy, labour, birth and caring for the new baby is a powerful social and emotional experience for a woman, a most significant life experience, which I bring respect and confidence to, to enhance the journey for the woman.

Just to let you know a little more about me … I grew up in Australia and studied midwifery here as well. I completed a Master of Business Administration (MBA) at the Australian Graduate School of Management. I have been a midwife for a decade, and have worked in private and public hospitals, birth centres, home birth, delivery suite, postnatal, community, antenatal wards and clinics, and neonatal nurseries. I have also worked in senior health management.

This extensive experience helps me understand your unique needs, whatever birth experience you are planning. While I maintain close contacts within the maternity services, I am uniquely placed to provide you with qualified advice, support and professional care that is specific to your needs.

My true passion lies in natural birth, and I am committed to helping you achieve a safe and satisfying birth in any birth setting.
