Choosing a hospital

Choosing a hospital is almost as important as choosing your care provider.  In some ways, your choice of hospital will be limited by your choice of care provider, for example your midwife or obstetrician will only be able to attend you in a particular hospital/s. The choice of where you have your baby can have a big impact on your birth experience. There are a number of options available to you and it's up to you to research your options thoroughly, and choose the one that you feel most comfortable wit and that is best aligned with the type of experience that is important to you.

If this is your first baby, you're unlikely to be aware of all the options when you first find out you're pregnant.  Typically, you front up to your GP, who often only gives you the most common choices.

Choosing where you will give birth is one of the biggest decisions you will make, but the biggest decision will be your choice of care provider.
