Unsettled babies

Unsettled babies is a topic that has come up lately.  A lot. Unsettled babies are not common in my practice.  They are fed on demand - as often as they want, for as long as they want, whenever they want - and are generally settled.

But clearly, the babies born through my practice are no different to other babies, and many women demand feed their babies.

So I have been wondering if there are other factors at play here.  What makes one demand-fed baby so unsettled, while another demand-fed baby is settled and fine?

I wonder if it has something to do with the woman's preparation for birth and baby care during her pregnancy; whether women who feel confident, informed, empowered and strong birth babies who sense their mother's confidence and are settled in this presence.  What are your thoughts?
