Backache is very common in pregnancy, but is it something we have to put up with?
In my practice, I often find that women who experience back pain early in pregnancy have that pain worsen later in pregnancy, and that early treatment works wonders.
I find that at least half of all women experience at least some back pain in pregnancy, at some stage.
Sometimes it is related to posture, or weak muscles, or a pre-existing problem.
What to do about it? There is a lot you can do! Exercise can be helpful, especially swimming and walking. Massage, physiotherapy, chiropractic and osteopathy can also be helpful - and I often find that implementing these earlier, rather than later, has the best results.
Back pain is not something you have to put up with: there are lots of options to assist.
